BEQUESTS IN WILLS OR TRUSTS:
Many friends of The Navigators choose to include a gift to the ministry at their death in their will or trust. After both you and your spouse die and you no longer need the full value of your estate for your support, you can designate a percentage of your estate, much like a tithe during your life, to further the cause of Christ through The Navigators ministry. Your estate will receive a charitable tax deduction and if you transfer retirement benefits from your retirement plan or IRA, there will be no income tax due which your children would have to pay if they receive the benefits from a retirement plan.
In addition to a percentage gift from your estate at your death, you can also build a plan to double the effectiveness of your estate. By setting up a trust in your will that will pay 10% of your estate each year to your children for 10 years and then have the balance go to The Navigators, you can essentially give your estate away twice, once to your children and once to charity. This allows your children to get a steady stream of income instead of a lump sum distribution while providing for the future needs of the ministry. Click the buttons below to learn more.
